Liisa Randalu, viola

Liisa was born 1986 in Tallinn and grew up in Karlsruhe where she started studying the violin. After further studies in Stuttgart, 2009 she decided to focus just on the viola and studied 2009-13 with Prof. Roland Glassl in Frankfurt/Main, where she finished her Diploma. In October 2013 Liisa Randalu started her Masters at the “Hanns Eisler” Berlin with Prof. Friedemann Weigle (Artemis Quartet). As a soloist she has played with the Orchestras such as Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, the Sinfonietta Frankfurt and the Deutschen Streicherphilharmonie conducted by Michael Sanderling.
Liisa Randalu was a scholarshipholder of the Gemeinnützigen Hertie Stiftung, the Villa Musica Mainz, the Oscar and Vera Ritter Foundation and the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes. She has had Masterclasses with Michael Kugel, Hariolf Schlichtig und Thomas Riebl.
As a Soloist, as well as in various chamber groups, Liisa Randalu has won several first Prizes in international Competitions, performed in the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Wigmore Hall in London, and has been a guest of festivals such as the Schwetzinger Festspiele and the Rheingau Musikfestival. 
As the violist of the Schumann Quartet she appears in all major halls and Festivals around the world. The ensemble is being represented by the prestigeous Agency Impresariat Simmenauer in Berlin. Among many other concerts and collaborations with musicians like Menahem Pressler, Sabine Meyer and Albrecht Mayer, the Schumann Quartet will be part of the CMS of Lincoln Centre New York beginning in Season 16/17.
