Haydn Connections, vol.6 (2022)

Volume 6 features the commemorative solo piano works of Charles‐Marie Widor, Vincent d′Indy, Paul Dukas, and Reynaldo Hahn. These composers employed melodic ciphers of Haydn′s name in musical terms to venerate the father of the Classical style on the centenary of his death. Pianist‐composer Michael Stephen Brown modernizes the tradition with his Etude‐Fantasy on the name of Haydn composed in 2020 for Music@Menlo. Volume 6 concludes with Ravel′s iconic La valse for Piano, Four Hands.
