Concert Program VII

Six to Eight

Offering one of the lushest textures of any instrumental combination, the string sextet has long been a favorite ensemble of both listeners and performers. Although Luigi Boccherini invented this grouping in the eighteenth century, classical music had to wait until 1860 for Johannes Brahms to revive this ensemble with his magisterial sextets. Violinists Benjamin Beilman and Erin Keefe return to Music@Menlo alongside an all-star cast of string players.
