Artist Bio
Cellist Dmitri Atapine has been praised by the Strad for his “highly impressive” playing and has appeared at leading venues around the world. A regular performer with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, he has also been featured at major festivals including Music@Menlo, Chamber Music Northwest, La Musica, Pacific Music Festival, Aldeburgh, and Aix-en-Provence. His recordings, including a world premiere release of works by Lowell Liebermann, appear on the MSR, Naxos, Albany, Urtext Digital, Blue Griffin, and Bridge labels. Professor at the University of Nevada, Reno, Atapine shares the Artistic Directorship of Apex Concerts and the Friends of Chamber Music Kansas City with pianist Hyeyeon Park, and together they lead the Music@Menlo Smith Family Young Performers Program. In addition, Atapine and Park have been selected as Artistic Director-designees of Music@Menlo, assuming leadership of the festival beginning in 2027.
