Beethoven’s Workshop with Jan Swafford

Biographer of Beethoven, Ives, Brahms, and Mozart, Jan Swafford has served as a program annotator for the Cleveland, San Francisco, Boston, Chicago, and New York Symphony Orchestras, the Metropolitan Opera, and Carnegie Hall. In this Encounter, he will journey through Beethoven's life and career, revealing the composer's creative habits, his musical innovations, and the skills and temperament that secured him an unchallenged place in music history.

This concert is preceded by a free afternoon Prelude Performance at 5 p.m. by the 2023 International Program artists.
