Carte Blanche Concert I

Soovin Kim and Gloria Chien

The husband and wife duo of violinist Soovin Kim and pianist Gloria Chien opens the 2019 season’s Carte Blanche Concerts with a richly varied, multicultural program of music composed between 1910 and 1930. Following Ravel’s colorful Violin Sonata, the program offers riveting works by Bartók and Ives, the patriarchs of the modern musical traditions of Hungary and the United States. The concert concludes with the enchanting Nocturne and Tarantella by the celebrated Polish composer Karol Szymanowski.
