Artist Bio

Bianca Ciubancan, violin

18-year-old violinist, Bianca Ciubancan, made her solo orchestral debut at age 8 with the Oistrakh Symphony Orchestra. She has taken top prizes at many competitions including DePaul University Concerto Competition, Walgreens National Concerto Competition, YoungArts National Competition, and many more. She was a top prizewinner at the Kloster Schoental International Violin Competition (2019) and Cooper International Violin Competition (2022), where she was awarded the Special Prize for Best Bach. In 2019, she won first prize in the International Grumiaux Violin Competition. Most recently, she was awarded 2nd prize at the Musicians Club of Women Competition. In addition, Bianca has appeared as a soloist internationally, including in Carnegie Hall as a winner of the American Protege International Competition.

As an avid learner, Bianca has been involved in many prestigious music festivals. In 2017, she attended the Rencontre Musicale Festival in Gstaad, Switzerland, where she studied with Maxim Vengerov. In 2018 she participated in the Mozarteum Summer Academy, where she studied with Paul Rozcek. In 2017, she was chosen to sit first stand in the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Chicago Youth in Music Festival, where she collaborated with Yo-Yo Ma and CSO Principal Second, Baird Dodge. Most recently, she was Associate Concertmaster for the Chicago Youth in Music Festival under the baton of Ken-David Masur.

Bianca was featured multiple times on NPR’s “From the Top,” in Beverly Hills, as well as virtual events, and was concertmaster of the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra’s top level, Symphony Orchestra for five years.
