Sora Corro, piano

Sora Corro is a 8th grader at Walter’s Middle School in Fremont. Sora started learning piano when she was 2 yrs old. At 4 years old, she started performing for piano recitals and participating in competitions. Sora won many prizes including first place in the Ranun International piano competition, the Silicon Valley music competition, Chambana International piano competition, Gavilan College Youth Piano Competition, East Bay Music Foundation, US new star piano competition and United States Open Music Competition, second place in Reno-Tahoe Piano Competition and Artcial San Francisco Piano Competition and third place in Chicago International Piano Competition. In United States Open Music Competition, Sora received an outstanding gold medalist award for 5 consecutive years since 2019. In June 2023, Sora was invited to play her piano concerto (Kabalevsky Op 50) with Urbana-Pop Orchestra in Champaign Ilinois. In 2022, Sora had a master class with Sharon Mann, Rebecca Pennys, and Yoshikazu Nagai. In 2023 April and June, she also had master classes with Steven Spooner and Armen Babakhanian. In July 2023, she participated in John Perry Summer Academy and had master classes with John Perry, Mina Perry, Sasha Starcevich, Boris Slutsky, and Jean David Coen. She will participate in Piano Texas Junior Program in June 2024. When she has free time, she enjoys playing video games, soccer, and skateboarding. She speaks Spanish and Japanese fluently and is interested in learning the sign language.
