Jessica Kartawidjaja is an 18 year old violinist from Jakarta, Indonesia. She will be attending New England Conservatory in the fall of 2024 as a student of Soovin Kim. She graduated from the Walnut Hill School for the Arts and studied with Peter Zazofsky at the New England Conservatory Preparatory School. Her past teachers include Julianne Lee and Nicole Jeong. She has been involved in NEC Prep’s Chamber Music Intensive performance Seminar (CHIPS) and Youth Philharmonic Orchestra (YPO). She was co-concert master of the Boston Ballet Next Generation orchestra where they performed at the Citizens Bank Opera House in 2023 and 2024. Her previous performances include Walnut Hill’s 50th Anniversary at the Shalin Liu Performance Center in Rockport, “Back to Bach” virtual concert, and a solo recital at the Walden Performing Arts Center at Concord. She placed as runner-up at the Concord Young Artist Concerto Competition and received first prize at the Brockton Youth Concerto Competition, where she will be playing as soloist with the Brockton Symphony Orchestra in October 2024. In past summers, she participated in the Singapore Violin Festival, Greenwood Music Camp, and Yellow Barn Young Artist Program. This summer, she will be attending the Chamber Music Northwest Young Artist Institute and Music@Menlo’s Young Performers Program.
