Artist Bio

Aiden Kim, cello

Aiden Kim is a 15-year-old cellist and an Honors Fellow student in the Conservatory of the Arts at Valley Christian High School in San Jose, California. He began studying cello at age seven and currently studies with Jonathan Koh. Aiden was the first prize winner of the 2024 DVC/HNU Young Artist String Competition and will perform solo with the Diablo Valley College Philharmonic Orchestra next season. He also won first prizes in the 2020 and 2024 Korean-American Music Supporters’ Association Competition and second prizes at the Cal ASTA San Francisco Solo Competition, the Burlingame Music Club Young Musicians’ Competition, and the United States Open Music Competition. He was selected to perform at the Junior Bach Festival in 2022 and 2024. Aiden has been a member of the California Youth Symphony Senior Orchestra since 2022 and will be going on tour to perform in Spain this summer. As an avid chamber musician, he studied chamber music at the California Music Preparatory Academy and will be participating in the Young Chamber Musicians program this coming fall. Additionally, his trio won first prizes at the United States International Music Competition and the Santa Cruz Baroque Youth Chamber Music Competition. Aiden has attended the Heifetz International Music Institute in 2022 and 2023. He has performed in masterclasses and studied with Brinton Smith, David Geber, Andrew Mark, and Yi Qun Xu. He is passionate about sharing his music with the community and senior living homes.
