Wyeth Minami, viola

Wyeth Minami, 18, began his musical journey with the piano, choosing the viola as his main instrument at age 7. He is currently a student of Professor Phillip Ying at the Eastman School of Music, and previously studied with Jessica Chang. As a member of the Pueri Quartet with Young Chamber Musicians (YCM) from 2021-23, he actively performed in benefit concerts and has also shared music through outreach programs with the Back to Bach Project as one of its regional directors. Wyeth was a member of the Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra (PACO) from 2014-23 where he first engaged in chamber music. Ever since his passion for chamber music has flourished. He attended Music@Menlo in 2023. Wyeth has won awards at USIMC, PVMC, MTAC VOCE Competition, NCVS Young Violists Competition, and KAMSA Competition. Other awards include winning the PACO concerto competition twice. Wyeth was a San Francisco Chamber Orchestra Debut Artist in 2016 and performed with them again in 2020. His masterclass performances include the Ives Quartet, Jonathan Vinocour, Eric Chin (Telegraph Quartet), Quatuor Danel, Miró Quartet, and Ying Quartet.
