Timothy Chua, 15, has performed as a soloist and in ensembles in music festivals and concert halls in both Singapore and the United States. He has won top prizes for solo cello and chamber music at the New York International Artists Association Praelusio Competition, Gustav Mahler Cello Competition, Performers’ Festival by Singapore Music Teachers’ Association, and World Piano Teachers Association International Competition. Chua was Principal Cellist of the Singapore National Youth Orchestra for three seasons, and a principal cellist in the opening concert of the 2024 Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra season. He is a student at the Walnut Hill School for the Arts and studies cello with Professor Yeesun Kim of the New England Conservatory (NEC). Chua is a member of the NEC’s Chamber Music Intensive Seminar (CHIPS) under Professor Soovin Kim. Chua has played in master classes with David Finckel, Zlatomir Fung, Shekku Kanneh-Mason, Qin Li Wei, and Peter Stumpf.
