Artist Bio

Suzuka Wada, violin

Violinist Suzuka Wada, 17, began her violin studies at age 6, and currently studies with Chen Zhao of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and San Francisco Symphony. She has been a member the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra since 2019 and was a co-principal of the second violin section during the 2021-22 season. In 2020, she joined Young Chamber Musicians and played in various ensemble groups. She was also a part of the Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra and the Golden State Youth Orchestra and toured Europe as a member of GSYO in the summer of 2019. She played at Carnegie Hall as a top prize winner of the 2019 New York Golden Classical Music Awards International Competition. She was also awarded 2nd prize at ENKOR International Competition in 2020, and 1st prize at Burlingame Music Club Competition and US International Open Music Competition in 2021. She was recently selected as a finalist of From The Top. Suzuka has attended numerous music festivals and programs including 2019/2021/2022 Junior Bach Festival, Tateuchi Institute of Music, 2020/2021 Bowdoin International Music Festival, 2022 National Youth Orchestra of the United States, and Aspen Music Festival. She has performed in masterclasses with Amy Schwartz Moretti, Ian Swensen, the Heath Quartet, Eric Chin, and Lisa Lee. This is her first time participating in the Young Performers Program at Music@Menlo.
