Lisa Saito, violin

Lisa Saito, an 11-year-old student at Fairmeadow Elementary School in Palo Alto, started her musical education in Japan, starting violin lessons at three and piano lessons at four years old. After moving to the San Francisco Bay Area in 2018, she now studies violin with Ms. Robin Sharp. At age 10, Lisa made her orchestral debut with the Stanford Summer Symphony, conducted by Mr. Paul Phillips at the Bing Concert Hall. In addition, she won the 2022 Golden State Youth Orchestra (GSYO) Concerto Competition, which led to a performance alongside the GSYO Senior Symphony under the direction of Dr. Yun Song Tay at the California Theater. Lisa, a member of the Golden State Youth Orchestra for the past four years, was concertmaster of the Galbraith Honor Strings in 2020 and is currently the youngest member of the GSYO Senior Symphony and participated in GSYO 60th anniversary concert as assistant concertmaster and the orchestra's European Tour in the summer of 2022. She has won several violin awards, including 1st place in the the 2023 KAMSA (Korean-American Music Supporters' Association) Competition, 2nd place in the Music International Grand Prix 2021, and the 2022 USOMC (the United States Open Music Competition) Instrumental Ensemble. Furthermore, she was selected to perform at the Junior Bach Festivals from 2020 to 2023. Lisa has attended Summer Music Institute at Tateuchi Hall and Santa Clara Chamber Music & Young Musicians Academy. This summer, she will attend Music@Menlo and Heifetz summer program.
