Aaron Ma began his music journey by learning piano at the age of three with his mother and later started his violin studies with Zhao Wei at the age of five. Aaron currently studies violin with Ms. Wei and piano with Dr. William Wellborn in the San Francisco Conservatory of Music Pre-college division. Most recently, Aaron received 1st place in the 2023 Pacific Musical Society & Foundation Annual Competition. Aaron was the 1st place winner in the Showcase Solo Junior and the Ensemble-Sonatas Intermediate categories in the USOMC, additionally receiving the Outstanding Gold Medalist Award. Aaron also won 1st place in the France International Music Competition Virtuoso category and 1st prize in the Art of Strings category of the Great Composers Competition (GCC). He was the 1st place recipient in the young prodigy division of USIOMC; 1st place in the Best Vivaldi Performance, the Music of Germany, the Rising Talents of America, the Art of Strings, and the Music of Austria divisions in the GCC; 1st place in the San Francisco International Innovative Music Competition, 1st place in the UK International Music Competition, and 3rd place in the Enkor International Competition and KAMSA Competition. This summer, Aaron has been selected to participate in the 2023 Bowdoin International Music Festival. Along with being a member of the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra and an avid chamber musician, he is also a student at The Harker School and a competitive swimmer for Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics.
