Artist Bio

Philip Jeong, cello

Cellist Philip Jeong, 13, began studying the cello at the age of nine. He currently studies with Dr. Jesús Castro-Balbi. Mr. Jeong made his first solo appearance at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall at the age of 12. Mr. Jeong has won numerous competitions in the United States, Canada, Italy, Germany, Sweden, and United Kingdom resulting in performances in prestigious venues such as the Beethoven House in Bonn, Carnegie Hall, and Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone in Rome. As winner of the Gwinnett County Youth Symphony Concerto Competition in 2022, he performed Haydn’s Cello Concert no. 1 in C Major and has been invited to perform the Saint-Saens Cello Concert no. 1 as winner of the AlphaSo Concerto Competition. Mr. Jeong is a member of the Enchant Trio, which won 2nd prize in the 2022 Franklin Pond Chamber Music Competition High School Division. He has participated in summer festivals such as the Highlands-Cashiers Chamber Music Festival and the Heifetz International Music Institute.
