Artist Bio

Katina Pantazopoulos, cello

Katina Pantazopoulos is a cellist and conductor who, at age 16, is already developing a following for her passionate spirit and generous sound. As a performer, Katina is committed to sharing the joy of music with new audiences and to supporting and promoting the work of women and girls in classical music leadership. Katina was named a 2022 YoungArts Finalist in Classical Music, the youngest by two years, winning at the age of 14. She was also named a 2022 Finalist in the acclaimed Lyra Music Youth Competition. Katina was also very honored to recently be selected as a Soloist for the Back to Bach Project, its most prestigious designation offering young soloists featured volunteer performances, showing young children the importance of pursuing music. Recently, Katina received a creative microgrant from YoungArts to support her flute/cello duo with fellow 2022 Finalist, Sadie Goodman. They have appeared together in concert at The Juilliard School, and in the Young Performers Series in Woodstock, New York. Summer 2020 marked her third appearance as an invited artist at the ChamberFest Canandaigua, where she made her professional debut in July 2018, at age 11. Katina was First Prize Winner of the Elite International Music Competition in 2019, and Winner of the Warminster Symphony Competition (Children’s Division), 2018. Katina received the Grand Prix in the 2018 International Concert Festival Competition and performed at Carnegie Hall. She studies with Clara Kim at the Juilliard School Pre-College. She lives in Philadelphia, PA, USA.
