Artist Bio

Sihao He, cello

Cellist Lynn Harrell praised Sihao He, saying, “He has impressed me with originality of musical thought and a wonderful command of the cello. His vision is inspiring.” He came into international prominence as the winner of the International Antonio Janigro Cello Competition in 2008. He is a grand prize winner of the Cassadó International Cello Competition, a third prize winner of the ARD International Music Competition, and a laureate of the Queen Elizabeth International Cello Competition. A passionate chamber musician, He won the Concert Artists Guild Competition as a member of the Galvin Cello Quartet and is a member of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s Bowers Program. A native of Shanghai, He attends Northwestern University as a doctoral candidate and is a faculty member at the Robert McDuffie Center for Strings at Mercer University.
