Benjamin T. Rossen, piano

A 2020 U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts and Young Steinway Artist, native New Yorker Benjamin T. Rossen is a multifaceted musician. Rossen, 18, is a freshman in the Harvard University / New England Conservatory (NEC) Five-Year Dual Degree Program. At Harvard, he plans to major in economics with a minor in music. At NEC he is pursuing a master’s degree in piano performance, studying with Professors Alessio Bax and Dang Thai Son. He studied piano for nine years and French horn for four years at the Manhattan School of Music Precollege Division under the tutelage of Professors Jeffrey Cohen and Sharon Moe. Recently, he was featured as a Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center Artist in the Meet the Music concert series, founded and directed by Bruce Adolphe. Further, he was a guest performer in the Cliburn Kids educational series. Rossen was named a 2018 Finalist-Winner at the National YoungArts Foundation, a Finalist for the NPR From the Top program, and a quarterfinalist at the 2019 Cliburn International Junior Piano Competition & Festival. After making his recital debut at age nine and concerto debut at Carnegie Hall at age 10, he went on to win top prize at many international competitions, including the MTNA National Composition Competition, the Kaufman International Youth Piano Competition, the George Gershwin International Music Competition, and the New York Piano Festival & Competition, among others. An avid chamber musician, Rossen attended the Music@Menlo Chamber Music Institute as a Young Performer from 2016 to 2020.
