Gerard Spronk, violin

Gerard Hans Spronk, Dutch-Swiss violinist, has an international music career, performing in the major concert halls of the Netherlands and in many cities in Europe, Asia and America.

Gerard started his violin studies with Coosje Wijzenbeek in The Hague and finished his Bachelor of Music in the year 2013 with the Dutch violinist Vera Beths at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. Currently, he is pursuing his Master degree at the University Mozarteum Salzburg in the international class of the famous violinist Pierre Amoyal, student of the legendary Jascha Heifetz. This study is made possible with support of the Petronella Andriessen Foundation and the Romke Kalma Foundation, both registered at the Prins Bernhard Culture Foundation.

He won numerous prices at competitions like IPMC, Iordens Viooldagen, the Davina van Wely Violin Competition and the Princess Christina Competition. He received important musical impulses from many violinists including Julian Rachlin, Albrecht Breuninger, Vadim Gluzman, Ivry Gitlis and Miriam Fried.

He can be heard in recitals and as a soloist with orchestra, with many performances broadcasted on Dutch radio. He is also a passionate chamber musician performing with artists like Thomas Zehetmair, Wolfgang Redik, Thomas Riebl and Clemens Hagen.

Gerard Spronk plays a violin by A. Gaybaryan and a bow by E. Sartory. For his bow Gerard received generous support from the foundation ‘Eigen Muziekinstrument’.
