Artist Bio

Benjamin Larsen, cello

Benjamin Larsen made his solo debut in 1999, to critical acclaim, at the Merryall Center for the Arts, and has since performed around the U.S., Europe and Asia. His cello teachers include Eric Dahlin, David Finckel, Marta Istomin, Julia Lichten, and Clive Greensmith, and his chamber music mentors include members of the Emerson, Tokyo, and American String Quartets, Robert Mann, Peter Frankl, Andre Michel Schub, and Daniel Epstein. Mr. Larsen has also studied at the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, Music@Menlo and Pacific Music Festival. He has performed with the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong, the Pacific Music Festival Orchestra, and the Manhattan School of Music orchestras.

Mr. Larsen holds Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from Manhattan School of Music, where he received the Hans and Klara Bauer Scholarship and the 2011 Pablo Casals award. He is also founder and artistic director of Concerts on the Slope.
