Yun Janice Lu, piano

Taiwanese pianist Yun Janice Lu was a semi-finalist at the prestigious Geneva International Music Competition in Switzerland, in addition to winning the top prize in the senior division at the 2015 Music Teachers National Association Competition, and the 2013 YAMAHA National Piano Competition in Taiwan. Her victory at the PianoTexas Young Artists Concerto Competition resulted in a performance with Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Lio Kuokman that brought rave reviews from critics praising that she “captured Liszt’s style,” and “took full advantage of the fireworks.”

As an active soloist, she has regularly appeared in recitals throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia. Janice began private lessons at the age of 5 and gave her first formal concert at 10. After four years, she successfully made her orchestral debut with the Taiwan Youth Orchestra. Since then, she was frequently invited to perform at numerous renowned music festivals, including Walnut Hill Music Festival, Academie Internationale d’Ete de Nice, PianoTexas Festival (formerly known as the Cliburn Institute), PianoFest in the Hamptons, and Music Academy of the West.

An avid chamber musician, she performs frequently at concert series, including Four Season Chamber Music Festival, Taos Chamber Music Festival, Chamber Music Evergreen in Colorado, and Yellow Barn chamber music festival. Janice has had the honor of working with prominent musicians such as the Brentano, Borromeo, Shanghai string quartets, members of the Tokyo String Quartet, Robert MacDonald, Peter Frankl, Peter Serkin, among many others. She earned her Bachelor of Music degree at California State University Fullerton School of Music, and recently earned her Master of Musical Arts degree at Yale school of music with the honor of Elizabeth Parisot prize. Janice is continuing her studies in the highly selective DMA program at the New England Conservatory.
