Artist Bio

Haeji Kim, viola

Originally from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, violist Haeji Kim began her musical journey on piano at the age of five, then violin and viola. Kim was awarded first prize at the New York Young Music Artists auditions, leading to a solo debut at Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall. She was a prize winner at the National Federation of Music Clubs Stillman Kelley Competition. In 2016, Kim was named an Evnin Rising Star at the Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts. She has appeared as a soloist with the Dearborn, Marquette, and Rochester Symphony Orchestras, and at the Northern Lights Music Festival in Minnesota. Previous engagements also include performances with Chamber Soloists of Detroit (2017), and a tour in 2017 with Ravinia’s Steans Music Institute. Kim studies at the Curtis Institute of Music with Roberto Díaz, Hsin-Yun Huang, and Edward Gazouleas.
