Music@Menlo's Tenth Anniversary

Celebrating Ten Years

Music@Menlo was established in 2003 to create a celebration of two of the great, renewing pleasures in life—classical chamber music and the stimulating company of artists, students, and music lovers of all ages.

The festival’s directors, musicians, audience-participants, and the young performers of the Chamber Music Institute share a conviction that the experience of live chamber music—of the highest quality, in intimate and acoustically superior spaces—nourishes and sustains the spiritual and emotional lives of individuals and communities. Together, the Music@Menlo community creates an annual celebration of the power of music to shape inner and outer lives.

Music@Menlo has, since its inception, remained true to these founding convictions. Through its unfaltering commitment to excellence over the past ten years—in education and programming, engagement and relationship building, and innovation—Music@Menlo has firmly positioned itself to move into its second decade with strength, momentum, and inspiration.

On the occasion of the tenth year, Music@Menlo invited its community to celebrate its innovations and its impact on the chamber music industry, its artists, and its audiences and asked you, the community, to play a vital role in building and sustaining this unique experience of musical exploration by contributing to a special Tenth-Anniversary Campaign.

The one-year campaign successfully concluded with contributions totaling $3,034,543. These funds will lift the organization to the next level of excellence in all areas: artistic programming and performance, the education of Chamber Music Institute participants, audience engagement, and Music@Menlo’s expanding impact on the classical music industry. Your support and participation have made the many successes of the past ten years possible and your dedication and engagement will make the future possible as well. Music@Menlo simply would not exist, nor would it thrive with its renowned energy and spirit, without you—thank you.

In the first ten years:

• Total annual attendance has reached over 15,000
• The $1.8 million annual budget supports over 65 public events each year
• 250 Chamber Music Institute participants have been immersed in a rigorous exploration of chamber music under the tutelage of the Institute’s esteemed artist-faculty
• 171 artists have performed in the main-stage concerts and coached in the Chamber Music Institute
• 164 interns have gained real-world experience from the industry-leading Arts Administration Internship Program
• 55 CDs have been released on the Menlo@Menlo LIVE label
• Thousands of Menlo School students have enjoyed an enhanced educational experience through the annual Winter Residency program
