R. Larry Todd is the author of Mendelssohn: A Life in Music (Oxford University Press), named Best Biography of 2003 by the Association of American Publishers, and the newly released Fanny Hensel, the Other Mendelssohn. An Arts and Sciences Professor at Duke University, Todd has published widely on nineteenth-century music, with a focus on Mendelssohn and his sister Fanny Hensel in addition to essays on Haydn, Robert and Clara Schumann, Liszt, Brahms, Richard Strauss, and Webern.
