Acclaimed flutist and Grammy-winning recording artist Carol Wincenc has appeared with orchestras worldwide and premiered works written for her by today’s most prominent composers. A founding member of the flute-viola-harp trio Les Amis, she frequently performs with the New York Wind Quintet. Recent highlights include a performance for Elliott Carter’s one-hundredth birthday featuring Carter’s complete works for wind and tours featuring the Vivaldi Gardellino Flute Concerto. Wincenc is in the planning phase of her fortieth-anniversary tribute season in 2009–10 with four newly commissioned works by Joan Tower, Jake Heggie, Shih-Hui Chen, and Thea Musgrave. A maitresse of American flutists, Wincenc teaches at Stony Brook University and is on the faculty of the Juilliard School.
