Born in 1988 in Honolulu, Hawaii, Laura Keller began Suzuki violin studies at the age of 3. She attended the Punahou School and upon graduation in 2006 began her undergraduate studies at the New England Conservatory where she was a student of Miriam Fried. Laura played her first concerto with orchestra at age 12 performing Lalo’s Symphonie Espagnole with the Honolulu Symphony as a winner of the HSO’s concerto competition. She performed with the orchestra again in ’02, ’04, and ’06.
Laura has been featured multiple times on National Public Radio’s shows From The Top and Performance Today. She has appeared in recital in cities across the U.S. including Seattle, Salt Lake City, Minneapolis, Boston, Honolulu, New Haven at Yale University, and New York City at Carnegie Hall. Laura has attended the ENCORE School for Strings, Music at Menlo’s Young Performer and International programs, the Aspen Music Festival as a member of the Aspen Festival Orchestra and Aspen Chamber Symphony, and the Taos School of Music. Laura has participated in master classes with Christian Tetzlaff, Robert McDuffie, and Joseph Silverstein, among others, and her primary chamber music teachers have included Paul Katz and members of the Borromeo and Tokyo Quartets. This past spring, Laura received a Master of Music degree from Yale University where she studied with Ani Kavafian.
